One of the wonderful things about bloggers is this: they are the most encouraging and supportive group of people. I’ve connected with bloggers, male and female, young and not so young, from around the world. I love the fresh perspectives I receive, the insights they share and the love they freely give.

Recently both blogs, Journey With Healthy Me and Cindy Goes Beyond, received the Blogger Recognition Award. This award is given to bloggers by their peers to recognize their efforts to add value to the blogging community. I am honored!

You can check out the award for Beyond HERE.

How Journey With Healthy Me Began

Journey began as a way to share an incredible change in my life. After more than 20 years of chronic pain and inflammation, and a steady decline in mobility, I took back responsibility for my health and well being.

When it seemed the medical community had nothing else to offer to me, I found healing through Anthony William, aka the Medical Medium. A post of Anthony’s that I “happened” upon on Facebook suggested chronic pain and illnesses may be the result of viruses wreaking havoc on the body. I’d tried years of medical treatments, drugs and physical therapy. I had nothing to lose by seeing what Anthony offered.

I’m so grateful for him and for all the wisdom he offers. I changed my diet, and my life dramatically improved.

After reading Medical Medium, and implementing the protocols found within the book, my pain and inflammation healed. I parked my walking cane in the corner four years ago and have not touched it since. (Read more about my healing here…and on posts through this blog site.)

Although I’d been blogging for several years, at Cindy Goes Beyond, Journey With Healthy Me began in 2017 as a natural expression of my healing journey. On Journey I share plant based lifestyle tips and info, recipes, food and supplement suggestions and personal stories. Journey is an invitation to anyone who desires to live a healthier life, at any age.

Advice to New Bloggers

The blogging journey is an evolving one. Keller Williams, the real estate company I’m with, taught me that “your business grows to the extent that you do”. I’ve found those words true.

So my first piece of advice to new bloggers is to keep growing, learning, adapting and changing. Your blog will as well. Share from your life experiences. Even if there are already other blogs out there, in your niche, and trust me…there are… no one has your exact same life experiences. No one else can tell your precious story. Find your passion and offer from your evolving life.

And, connect with other bloggers. That’s a mistake I made, as a new blogger. I chose to go it alone. There is so much to gain from sharing experiences and lessons learned and blog posts with other bloggers. They “get you”, for one thing. And for another, they can save you time and money and frustration. Start with joining Talat’s Facebook group for bloggers. Then look for more. There are many excellent groups out there to join.

And in the  same vein, take a blogging class. That’s what actually connected me to other bloggers. I highly recommend the Reese’s free 5 Day Crash Course and their paid course, Blogging Blastoff 2.0. As a past student, I continue to learn from their courses. I’m an affiliate and may make a commission if you choose to purchase the paid course, at no extra cost to you. I recommend them, and I’m an affiliate,  because I love their classes!

My Nominations for the Blogger Recognition Award

Because I’m posting simultaneously on both blogs, I’m dividing my list of nominees. Check out these five bloggers and their blogs, nominated by Journey With Healthy Me:

Tiffany with Nursing Decoded, who can help you with all your health care needs.

Suzan with It’s My Sustainable Life, who offers wonderful resources for sustainable living, gardening and a natural lifestyle.

Chris with Yoga Herbal Tea and Me, sharing fitness, healthy foods and travel.

Hillari with All Things in Good Health, offering tips and wisdom about health and happiness.

Lisa with Move Mama Move, who is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Mom and expert mover, living her best life.

I am thrilled to receive another award for Journey With Healthy Me.

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given by bloggers to their peers, as a way to recognize and encourage each another. Trust me, in this journey it is so uplifting to receive these nods and accolades.

I received this award from Anisa, who writes My Third Culture Kid. She loves to share about her adventures in traveling and family life and about setting and reaching goals. Please check out her inspiring blog. And thank you Anisa for encouraging me.

Sunshine Blogger Award

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who show creativity, positivity and inspiration. Once you have been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award, you are required to:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to his or her blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers and give them 11 new questions to answer.
  • Notify your nominees and display the Sunshine Blogger Award in your post.

Below are my responses to Anisa’s 11 questions as well as 11 questions for 11 of my fellow bloggers!

Sunshine Blogger Award

1. What do you love most about your blogging business?

I love that it is MY business and I determine how much time and effort I put into it. At this point, it’s a LOT of time and effort! It is so rewarding, however, when I hear from readers who say they appreciate the info, recipes and tips that I share. And when they say they feel better or their health improved, I’m excited for them.

2. What do you wish you had known before you started blogging?

I wish I had realized that the blogging journey isn’t a solitary one. I spent years figuring things out for myself when there were others further down the trail, offering help. I’m grateful for the community of bloggers who walk with each other and share information. We cheer each other on.

3. Who is your biggest inspiration?

For this part of my journey, the healing one, I am forever grateful to Anthony William, for showing me that I could change my health by changing my diet. Ultimately, my biggest inspiration comes from God, whom I call El-le. That’s another story for another time.

4. Which countries are on your bucket list?

Can I say all of them?? Traveling is a fairly recent passion. That bug bit me though and I’d not turn down a trip to anywhere in the world. I hope to see New Zealand, France, Germany, Russia, Sweden, Cameroon…the list goes on and on.

5. What is your favorite motivational quote?

This quote by Helena Bonham Carter perfectly captures who I am. I made a meme of it, using a photo of me standing in my garden.

Sunshine Blogger Award

6. Where do you see yourself in five years?

I see myself traveling and exploring, writing full time from anywhere I happen to be.

7. What are you most thankful for?

I’m most thankful for my family. Each person inspires me and makes me proud. My greatest desire is to encourage them in their own journeys and share adventures together.

8. Would you rather have a remote with a life rewind or a life pause button?

It’s tempting to hit the rewind button and have a do over, but only if I had the awareness and knowledge that I possess now. In reality I take what I learned from my past and feel gratitude for all the lessons that give shape and depth to my life now.

9. If you could only travel to one country, which one would it be?

Scotland. I’m drawn always Scotland, the home of my ancestors and my heart. I’m grateful that I get to return to Scotland this summer to attend a Maitland Clan gathering.

Sunshine Blogger Award

10. If you could choose the date and year of your birth, when would it be?

Time travel intrigues me! What fun to visit Victorian England or see what the world looked like 50 years from now. However I am content with my birthdate.

11. If you could learn a new skill, what would it be?

I wish I could easily master languages. Alas, learning new languages is difficult for me.

Mystery Blogger AwardThree Random Facts About Me

Since this blog is health related, I’ll keep these facts in the area of health and well being.

  1. I toe in. During my childhood, this was called “pigeon toed”, and I hated this characteristic of mine. I slept a brace as a toddler, that forced my feet to point outward. The problem isn’t in my feet, however, my hip joints tip inward. Thankfully, my parents let me be me and now I don’t even think about how I walk.
  2. One of my all time favorite foods is the Cara Cara Orange. Sadly, they are only in season from late December until mid April. I eat all I can of these juicy sweet oranges, related to the navel orange, before they go out of season.
  3. Cooking is so fun for me now. A few years ago I expressed the desire to cook more creatively. When I switched to a plant based lifestyle, cooking differently became a necessity, as there are few restaurants where I can dine. You just never know how a wish is going to be fulfilled!

My Answers to Ann’s Questions

  1. What inspired you to open up your blog? I began blogging with Cindy Goes Beyond. When I turned my health around, by switching to a plant based diet, I desired to help others who might be struggling with chronic pain or illnesses. In the 20+ years that I suffered with chronic pain, no one ever suggested that a change in diet might be beneficial. No one, that is, until I came across Anthony William, also known as the Medical Medium. He pointed me in the right direction, something I’ll forever be grateful for. I hope I can offer hope and answers to people too.
  2. How do you see that your blog can help the world to become a better place? I started this answer above, unintentionally. I offer hope to the hurting. My desire is to let people know that they don’t have to suffer with diseases, disorders and chronic pain. I am living proof that a change in eating habits can change a life. My blog offers tips, recipes, information about foods and herbs, and techniques that can help anyone, of any age, live a healthier, more vibrant life.
  3. If any of your wishes could come true, what would you wish for? My greatest wish at this time, beyond health and happiness for my loved ones, is to have the freedom to travel and explore the world, while working remotely. I am working hard to make that wish a reality.
  4. How do you manage to be a blogger and live a family life? My children are grown, so I don’t have young ones at home to care for. Blogging, and my other job in real estate, give me flexibility to adjust my schedule so I can spend time with my family and watch my grandchildren play sports or perform in concerts.
  5. What is your favorite drink to have, while writing blog posts? I almost always have a cup of hot herbal tea nearby, while I write the blogs.
